How do you find these things Ken.....your a super snooper ;-)

If it's right, I'm getting one for sure

After this post I went and had a look to see if I could find some more information - that choice of motor does not seem to be available on the 'Konfigurieren' page ??

What does FSI and TFSI mean?

I found that here:
by clicking on Motoren (motors) and then more facts....

FSI is Audi speak for their special fuel injection set up, TFSI is the turboed version of the same thing.... will try to find a more technical explanation when I've a few minutes to surf....

T FSI is turbo FSI

Cant be bothered looking up fsi is :)

What kens saying is theat there will be 2.0T FSI for Audi pumping approx 147kw :)

Apparently i heard Audi have changed over from KKK to Garret Turbo's ;)

Copied from Audiworld

he FSI injection principle is capable of two different charge modes: stratified charge operation and homogeneous operation. Stratified charge operation allows particularly economical fuel consumption at part throttle because an ignitable, rich mixture is only necessary around the spark plug. The rest of the combustion chamber contains strata of air/fuel charge with a high air excess.

FSI technology makes this so-called stratified charge possible by controlled charge movement in the combustion chamber and injection directly before the moment of ignition. This enables a considerable reduction in the amount of fuel required for combustion - the most important precondition for the economy of an FSI engine.

At high loads the entire fuel/air mixture in the combustion chamber has the ignitable ratio of lambda=1 ("homogenous operation"). But this also enables a considerable fuel saving, as the victorious R8 engine has proven: owing to high performance requirements, race engines only operate with a homogeneous mixture. Even more systematic use can be made of the fuel consumption benefits of FSI technology in everyday driving situations, when there is a constant switch between lean stratified charge and homogeneous operation.

I'll sleep easier with the knowledge that the TFSI will reach Australia... so far the Aussie A3 Spec / Info lists 1.6 & 2.0 FSI, 2.0TDI, and 3.2... but no [edit] :big_wink: petrol turbo.

the TDI is a turbo Dave :P

but i know what you mean ;-)

awwww chux... you knew what I meant
actually - I wonder how these new oil burners go?? :?:
I wouldn't mind driving one... the only 'forced induction'
drive i currently get is in a bloody turbo diesel Rodeo ute
whilst out in the sticks!

According to AS.net, orders are being taken now in the UK for the 2.0T FSI with delivery in 3months.

They are 41,000pounds in the UK, base spec I believe

[quote="Kris"] 2.0T FSI ... 41,000pounds in the UK, base spec [!!!]

Gee at $41k pounds... I'd take a slightly thrashed S4 for the equivalent in $AUD (give or take a few $k with exchange rate) :beat:

hrmmm 41k pounds - thats 107k Aus - somehow that just doesn't make sense...
