View Full Version : Arrrghhh q5 delivery error!!!!!!
Hi Everyone,
Took delivery of my new Q5 yesterday and I have to say I am very happy with the car. Pulls like a freight train with rock solid build quality.
I waited 6 months for my car to arrive only to find out it was missing the sunroof . The sunroof was on the contract and included in the price so I was not happy to find it missing.
Unfortunately the best the sales manager could say was "Sorry I made an error when ordering your car" I did get a refund for the cost of the sunroof but that was not the point... I ordered it, I wanted it but didn't get it.
The only options were to take the car as is, wait another 6 months for another car (with no guarantee the same thing wouldn't happen again) or take my money back and get something else, well from the second line on this post you can tell what option I took.
It's a shame that the whole buying experience was let down by 2nd rate operating procedures that you don't expect from any Audi dealership. If the salesman I delt with placed the order and then had it checked by a second pair of eyes ie the sales manager or purchasing manager prior to sending then this could have been avoided. As it stands only one person, the sales manager orders the car and checks it (at this dealership anyway).
For all of you out there who have factory ordered your car like I did, learn from my experience and double check NOW with the dealership you placed the order with, that what you have ordered is infact identical to the order they have placed with the factory.
I'm not sure how often this happens but i am 100% certain it has happened before and will keep happening till they change something.....
End rant!!

Im so sorry to hear that.. If that happened to me I would be furious and not sure if i would have been as understanding as you and only accepted a refund. I think some form of compensation is in order here. You have been forced to accept a vehicle that is not what you wanted. Can I ask which dealership it was or maybe which state you ordered it from?
I think the dealer should allow you to drive the vehicle you have as a loan car and re-order your vehicle. This is their fault not yours.
I hope my car comes as i requested. Its on a boat now so fingers crossed all is ok..

name and shame
Sorry fella's, I won't name them just yet. I can tell you all it was a Sydney dealer. Perhaps other dealers do things differently and have learnt from their mistakes.
i was initiately very p@ssed off! and they knew but at the end of the day, i figured there's no point staying p@ssed off over someonne elses incompetence.

Didnt someone mention that there would be no cars with Sunroof as an option delivered this year?
They probably dropped it off on purpose to get the car to you sooner - better to get a car without a sunroof than having an angry customer cancel the whole order.
No, they told me they forgot to order it. I waited the normal 6 month lead time for all current Q5's so sunroof would have made no differene to the delivery date.

? sounds suss to me really, thats pretty negligent.....
I tt if you asked for sun roof you would have to wait till next year, not just 6 months due to allocation restrictions.... maybe i remembered wrong...
There is a possibility that your car got sold as well unless you had pretty unique options in it...
Sorry to hear it man, but i am sure you still will enjoy the car *almost* as much :_b:

That sucks and im surprised you still took the car. For me anyways, sunroofs are a must for my personal enjoyment and also when id sell the car. As long as you are happy with it and dont regret your decision then that is fine.

There are so many things that would have entered my mind before accepting delivery.
It's hard I'm sure. The car is sitting there and you're so tempted, however this would have been my position.
1. Refund the cost of the sunroof immediately.
2. Order a new vehicle with the correct spec.
3. Audi supply you with an A4, Q5 etc until your car arrives.
Not sure how far you would have got with such a request, but its exactly what I would be demanding.
The resale will be affected by not having a sunroof - just about everyone expects one in a car these days.

Id dare say not having a sunroof isnt that important in the Q5. All my previous cars have sunroof but i specifically did not want one on the Q5 due it being so big with only a cloth cover - it would be extremely hot and bright in the summer - can anyone with a sunroof confirm this?

Sorry to hear that Nard...the same thing happened to me two years ago with a different make. To say I was p***d off was an understatement. It took me a week to calm down.
I ended up having a top of the line Wesbasto installed with more features than the OEM (and cheaper) and now I look at the incident as a blessing in disguise

I havent ordered the sunroof but now want it badly...too bad the vehicle is already built. Hope they mess up and put the sunroof by mistake!!!

Not that I really like the idea of cutting into a brand new car, but wouldn't aftermarket be the way to go?

Wesbasto are the main manufacturers and supply most OEM sunroofs as well.
The Hollandia range is here: http://www.webasto.com.au/am/en/am_auto_sunroofs.html
I defy most people to pick the difference between OEM and these when installed.

Alot of things did go through my mind. At the end of the day though the dealer wasn't too stressed as they could have sold my car easily given the current demand for the vehicles, not great from a customer viewpoint but fine as far as their bottom line goes.
As for an after market sunroof, the thought has crossed my mind and i know webasto make a great product as my brother had one installed in his car (now sold) without any issues, but the thought of cutting a big hole in my nice new car brings a tear to my eye.

Just like Audi would have done with the OEM. :)

Yup - go aftermarket. It'll have a warranty - nothing to worry about.
I'd still have stuck it to the stealer.

if it was me.. personally i would have hit the roof told audi what i really would have thought and go to a rival company purchase from there and show audi your displeasure.
hate dealing with other people's incompetence
