Thats absolutely fantastic! Anything like this floating around about the 1.8t engine?

Not sure about 1.8T specifically but there's a load of information on VAG technology and cars here

Sorry I couldn't tell you. When researching all things S4 I get in the moment and open any link that looks promising. If asked to find it now I would have no hope! Best advice would be to search, read and do some more searching... good luck!

Thanks John.. some pretty good stuff there upon initial glimpse. Will require a bit of sifting through but im planning to do it at some stage to see what i come across. Great resource to know about though so thanks again.

How similar is this engine to that installed in a B8 Avant with the 2.7 DT option?

I don't think they're related.
The 2.7 biturbo petrol engine from the S4/A6/Allroad has its origins in the 2.6 and 2.8 12V V6's from the late 80's.

The 2.7tdi is a destroked version of the 3.0tdi first launched in 2004 with new block materials technology and inlet design.

Meanwhile the cast iron block 2.8 petrol V6 (brother to the 2.7) was stroked and developed into the new all alloy 3.0 V6 petrol launched in 2001.

Although designed at a similar time, I don't think to two 3.0 V6's are related.
