View Full Version : Front wheel bearing

Can anyone help tell me how to remove the front passenger side bearing? I have already removed the caliper, rotor, and inner break guard. Do I need to take off the control arm, or anything else? Thanks

Driveshaft has to come out, so 2 ways - either pop the ball joint out, or unbolt the ball joint. It's easiest to unbolt the big driveshaft bolt whilst you still have the brakes attached as it takes a heap of force.

Don't forget a wheel alignment & do everything up tight.

If you can still put the car on the ground, I'd recommend doing that. Pop the wheel centre out first if it's still fitted as you'll need to access the centre bolt through the wheel with the cars weight on it.
If it's a hex head bolt it's probably 27mm. If it's an Allen key head it'll most likely be 17mm.
You'll need a breaker bar and mid extension to clear the wheel and probably some kind of extension bar for the breaker bar (or buy a big one!) - I use a length of galvanised water pipe to do mine!

You can try using a rattle gun - but I've never had success with one!
