Central Locking

I've recently aquired a 1991 90 and the central locking only works on the front passenger side. Not sure if it was installed wrong or it was for a left hand drive or what. Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like the factory air (vaccum type) system.

There is a microswitch in the front locks - sounds like one is not working. This tells the pump to actuate. Might pay to check out the drivers lock (door trim off). Plenty of Audi 80 people would have done this (I know I have)

hey mate..
same thing happens with the central locking on my 90..
i reset the system by taking the central locking fuse out and then it works...
hasnt happend since i put an alarm in though..
So take the fuse out and it may work..

I'm opting for the "replace it with Japanese bits" approach...

I had the same deal. I disconnected the battery, replaced the fuse; then pulled off the vacuum line at the back of the pump unit in the boot. After about three goes it suddenly started working again!
