Perfect weather greeted me as I rolled into the pits. Unfortunately, everyone decided that Friday was the best day to go to the track. As a result I have never seen so many cars on a track day. Memo to self, organise next track day on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

As an idea of the roll up we had:

at least 10 XR6, XR8 Falcons
Monaro
3 Evo 9's including 2 that were being used for development work by Brett Middleton and his workshop team.
MY99, MY00 (x2), MY04, MY05 STi's
S4
A4
Maserati 430
a few AE86 Sprinter Drift boys
200SX
Monaro
RX7 race cars
a few WRX's...

well you get the picture.

In terms of highlights:

a) getting a few clear laps in
b) did a 1.11.97
c) giving Dad's EVO 9 a good workout (1.14 two up in traffic)
d) Listening to the mighty Aussie V8's
e) seeing Rob's S4 in action
f) going toe to toe with the 200SX in the EVO and with Brett Middleton in my STi.

Lowlights:

a) traffic
b) sympathy for Stu, Rod and Phill who are suffered mechanical disasters in their car
c) sympathy for the other MY00 STi driver who got hit by an out of control Elantra
d) Realising that compared to people like Brett Middleton I am such an also ran driver (he ran 10's in his stock EVO and 9's in the 40 extra KW EVO).
e) the traffic sledgge on the way home.

However, the STi had another faultless day and I drove it home in one piece still with the tyres in reasonable shape and the brake pads still with life in them.

Looking forward to hearing everyone elses take on the day.

cheers

Opps I posted in another thread.. Here was what I said:

Well that was my first time ever to a track..

A very BIG thank you to Stephan for organising and with all the tips :)

You so want an evo now... haha

Was fairly happy with my S4 on Wakefield (for a first timer) I managed to get a 1.14 sec lap

You really do need to know the track to get good times.

S4 understeers way too much and was spinning the rear inside wheel (definately need an lsd).

Cool seeing the two evo's getting tested by Motor..

Stu,

Had a good run, I'll post the video soon.

Stu and I had a few laps to see how the Audis go, pretty good comparison if you ask me:

A4 = 260Kw's
nice semi-slicks on the front
Big huge brakes

S4 = 260Kw's
Bridgestone Potenza RE070's

I must admidt Stu, I had to back off a few times :)

Pic's:

Arriving in the semi :) (my S4 and mates 200sx)

I am sure Nick would be suprised to know he was doing 280 kph!

What was the verdict on Stu's engine shutdown? Last time I saw him he was trying to replace a pipe that had blown off...next time I looked he had gone.

We managed to get a zip tie and he limped it home.

Rob, have you got any video to post?

I only ended up getting one session worth of decent video as Dad was playing with the zoom when he had the camera trackside and the balance of the day's video is massively zoomed on the rear vision mirror with a heap of camera shake!!!!

I do, but i positioned the camera a little high so it's not fantastic if you know what I mean..

Still haven't edited it.

Anything specific you were after? I think from memory I only have a little of you and your dad.

Ed,

Why not have them trucked down :) (mate with the 200 owns a removalist business and has a truck for race cars)

Cheers
