:?: Hi All,
Well, my tranny has decided to spit the dummy now, spitting trans fluid all over the place.
As far as i can see,it seems to be coming from inside the converter /bellhousing. I cant seem to find the trans number anywhere, any ideas where it's stamped? Does anyone have a link for a description on this trans? Parts diagram possibly?
Car is a '88 Audi 80 1.9E
Cheers in advance for any info supplied

they will be happy to give u a parts diagram.
shouldnt be too hard to track down a reconditioned box.. stick a manual in it!

well mate...from what i've read so far, sticking a manual in it is more trouble than it's worth. Also, i'd prefer to keep it auto as the wife prefers to drive auto's and is a bit shy on the manuals.
Also, from what i've read about these auto tranny's,they are a peice of shite and the motor used in this particular model seems to be a rarity as i've not found alot of info regarding it.
Done a lot of searching and have not found the answers i've been looking for, so many web sites , i probably missed it, but i'd like to chuck the 1.9 and auto away and put a later A80 model 2L engine and auto in without to much mod's if any(maybe ECU/s ,wiring and such, but i do this sort of electrical work anyway),so, any thoughts as to what will bolt straight in without to much hassle?
Sorry 'bout the long post and if this has been posted before, but i haven't come across any other threads for this model... :? ...cheers... 8)

I havent heard much about the 1.9L either... i know its one if the first 80s... but im not sure if the auto is the same throughout the range? u mayaswell put a V6 in it if u are going to do a conversion :D

I was actually quite surprised on how well the Auto and the v6 engine work together.
I used to drive a manual, and thought it was going to be a HUGE dissapointment to drive an auto but so far - no complaints.

I'd love to stick a V6 in, but I cant see it being a "bolt straight in job", so I'm hoping that the later 2.0L will......still searching...... :) 8)
