Morwell Hillclimb Sunday 18th April (Vic).

Just a friendly reminder that applications are now open (AND ABOUT TO CLOSE!) for the inaugural Audi vs. BMW Morwell Hill Climb 2004. This is Club Audi Victoria's first official CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motorsport) event and our first 'speed event' as an incorporated association and I hope that all members will come along and show their support as either a spectator or participant.

The Audi vs. BMW Morwell Hillclimb is being held on Sunday the 18th of April 2004 at Morwell Race Track (approx. an hour and a quarter drive from Melbourne). This event is being held in conjunction with the BMW car club of Victoria in the spirit of friendly collaboration between mutually interested car clubs. Club Audi Victoria has paid the full cost of Track Hire for the day including timing crew, officials, extinguishers and an ambulance ($650). BMW have paid the full cost of the CAMS permit (approx. $1045).

If you do not wish to participate in the event you are more than welcome and encouraged to come along to spectate and show your support for the Audi drivers! A cafeteria is being manned and food and drink will be available on the day, or you are welcome to bring along a picnic.

Club Audi Victoria is subsidizing the entry cost for its members - entry is only $20 plus $41 for your CAMS S2 Licence. So this is a cheap days motorsport! There is no charge for spectators. CAMS S2 licesnes will be available on the day if you do not have one.

Please note that positions are limited and entrants will be accepted on a first come first served basis. Applications close March 31st 5pm.

There will be trophies on the day for the fastest overall car of the day and the fastest Audi of the day - however we encourage all drivers to drive within their limits and observe the friendly spirit of the day. As the event is a hillcimb only one car is permitted on the track at a time.

If you are not yet a member of Club Audi Victoria (or any other CAMS affiliated club) and you would like to enter the HillClimb you will be required to complete a club membership form and pay the annual fee as you must be a member of a CAMS affiliated car club in order to participate in this event.

Just an update on tomorrows event. We have nearly 30 competitors plus a lot of spectators.

How do I get there?

If you are competing you are welcome to join up for a convoy by meeting at the McDonalds in Doveton on the Princes Hwy at 7:00am for 7:15am departure SHARP!

It's a bit over an hour from Camberwell via the freeway to Princes Highway and then the Morwell turnoff (Just head for the town of Morwell). Once you come into Morwell, turn left at the roundabout with the KFC on the corner - just after a Mobil servo, though not sure if they have High Octane Fuel yet...and then it's about 10km up this road on your left, signed Gippsland Park - it's just over a crest, so warp speed is not recommended. Cross the bridge and if you are competing turn down the hill to the pit area, otherwise turn into the spectator area - it can get a little crowded in the pits. Oh, if you are trucking or trailering your car, there is a second entrance a couple of hundred metres further down the main road that is the backway into the pits, and is easier to navigate.


Please remember if you are competing you are required to be at Morwell by no later than 8:30am for scrutineering.

For those still waivering, aren't members and don't have a CAMS licence, we can do a special deal for you of $100.00 for the day.
