Default MY10 changes for Australian Audi range

I've been away for a week and a bit and this info arrived while I was away. Apologies if it has been seen here before, but if not, knock yourselves out...

The production change to Model Year 2010 begins in Calendar Week (CW) 22/09 for all Audi models except the Audi Q7, which will be communicated at a later date. The information below lists all the changes and new items that are being introduced for MY 2010.

    Audi A3 3-door, Sportback, Cabriolet and S3
    Effective from CW 22/2009 production

    Colour & trim

    • There are no changes to the colour and trim range

    Standard equipment

    • New door sill trims including Audi logo for Ambition models
    • Enhanced 4-spoke steering wheel design for Attraction models
    • Heat resistant leather trim for A3 Cabriolet (std for 2.0TFSI, optional for other models)

    Optional equipment

    • Navigation system RNS-E – New high resolution display, additional SD-card storage capacity and compatible with Audi music interface (AMI)
    • Audi music interface (AMI) now available, only in combination with navigation system RNS-E (AMI deletes the CD Changer, the two cannot be combined!)
    • RRP – Priced together with Navigation (current Navigation price remains unchanged)

    Audi A4 sedan & Avant
    Effective from CW 22/2009 production

    Colour & trim

    • Mustang brown (GP) is discontinued and replaced with Cinnamon brown (CN)

    Standard equipment

    • New, smaller exterior mirror design
    • LED rear tail-lights now standard on vehicles with Xenon headlights

    • Aluminium look trim around all air vents and headlight switch now standard on 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TDI

    Optional equipment

    • MMI navigation plus 3rd generation with hard-drive (features and functions as already known from the A5 and Q5 models). The current “navigation package” offered across the A4 range will change over as follows:

    – MMI navigation plus with hard drive
    – Single DVD/CD player (in centre console)
    – Audi music interface (AMI) RRP - to be confirmed
Note – We have not included a glove box mounted CD changer in the package as Audi music interface, hard drive music storage, 2 SD card slots and single CD/DVD player provide numerous possibilities for the customer. If required, a CD changer can be ordered additionally (RRP - $950)
    • High beam assistant can now be ordered without forcing Xenon headlights

    Audi A4 (& A5) 2.0 TFSI quattro manual – Now with start-stop function
The manual transmission versions of the A4 & A5 2.0 TFSI quattro models will gain the new start-stop function which can reduce fuel consumption by up to 0.2 l/100 km. As soon as the vehicle comes to a stop, the gear lever is in neutral and foot off the clutch pedal, the engine automatically switches off. The engine then switches back on as soon as the clutch pedal is depressed to select first gear.

The start-stop system functions extremely quietly, smoothly and quickly. The system can be switched off by a button in the centre console.

Additionally, a new driver efficiency program, as part of the Driver Information System, provides an enlarged gear shift indicator display and further fuel efficiency data.

Model year 2010 production for the above models starts in CW29/2009. There is no change to the Recommended Retail Price.

Note – Start-stop function is only possible on manual transmissions at this stage.

    Guy,

Any idea when OEM units will be available for retrofitting? Or is it too early to have any information?

I have a current RNS-E on order with you but obviously the new one sounds better.
    Cheers Aaron

I have a reply from Germany tonight:

Retrofit new units will be available in November this year.

Base unit price is 4300 Euro (so ~ $7600 AUD + GST) - no map either.

I think our price of the new current units @ $2750 incl GST is still pretty attractive.

    Guy,

    Thanks for the information.

Not a difficult decision to stay with the current RNS-E then.

Look forward to getting it installed by HP and hopefully finally meeting you in person.

    Cheers

    Aaron

Maybe there will be a firmware update for our older units that'll give us MY10 functionality, we can only hope...

The rest looks identical - it seems that apart from the extra SD card slot, the only other change is to have the "MMI" interface for the smart "Ipod" link!

It would have been nice for the unit to get the Touch screen & hard drive of the VW RNS510!

From what I understand the new RNS-E will support SD-HC cards (up to 32GB) and has a higher resolution screen.

It does look almost identical though..
