Weight is probably equally important...and aero regs
out of curiousity, how might the two compare?
the DTMs have a 4L V8, limited to 470hp.
I wondered how their lap time might compare on a shorter twisty track, and say something like a bathurst?

At bathurst, naturally the v8's are setup for that track.. i think they would run rings around the DTM at a track like that...
However lower speed, twisties... DTM would mash them me thinks...
I dunno, its kind of like comparing a MX5 with sway bars etc set up for motorkhanas - short and twisty... against a hsv or a SS that is setup for top speed flat out long straight kind of racing i think...

10seconds at bathurst is a tall order, the DTM cars are much lighter and have far better aero. At a track like bathurst I would expect a DTM to be doing similar times to the Supertaxi's but on a track like Oran Park the DTM would walk all over them.
Power makes you faster down the straights,
Less weight makes you faster everywhere,

Bathurst is a fairly complex corning track IMO yes it has a couple of drag strips but anything thats quick across the top will have a serious advantage.
