Thanks, fingers crossed :pop:
Just an update: Car may be coming home today minus stat as he didn't order or couldn't get one? I'll know once the rest is done & stat tested again. Annoying as it was meant to be done along with the...
Thanks, handy to know :kiss_rings:
This waiting game sux! I'm still waiting for workshop to get back to me to discuss further possible issues. Doesn't feel like it's actually mine just yet :crutches:
That's a great idea. I do similar with my daily so will do with this too. Once the current work is finished next week. I'll get him to go over car with info I give him so we can work out times to get...
Interesting development: A member of a FB chat group remembered my car from years back when it was @ Volkwerke in Doncaster, back in 2019. After chatting with service section, I managed to get a...
You'd swear that's two different cars the way the colour changes. I've only painted a car once & it was a Mazda 323 many years back that had clear coat damage all over. I'd never tackle one of these....
Looks awesome
jnrdavo, what effect is used in that pic? Some camera work or photo editing?
I can't put any more pics up as this was the only one I kept from seller's add & had an unexpected surprise straight off the bat. It's @ a VAG specialist down my way getting the engine sorted @...
It ain't coming home until it's all sorted that's for sure. He may come in on Sat to @ least get belt & pump done. No stats available anywhere @ the moment so, hope that doesn't hold things up. I may...
Going through service/repair receipts. I see the water pump & belt was done 5 years back @93k. The pump was cheap as far as I can tell. $112. I know they're multiples of that now & can't see a...
Absolutely. Just want it fixed & move on.
This VAG guy I took it to today was awesome! Knows his stuff with a few accolades. Loves our cars. He reckons pump may have not ever been changed or fitted incorrectly which can damage blades.

Bittern. Low down on Mornington Peninsula. What I don't get is the fans seem to only come on loud once I stop engine. Also, the pump was changed along with belt only 37k ago
Had to pop out for work. It's a 2008 S3 8P.
I was actually put onto a VAG specialist near me today by a mechanic I know. Spoke with him & he feels it's the water pump. He's getting me a price...
I just love the fact the car was serviced 1k ago & this happens 10 mins into driving...
T/Belt & pump was done 37k's ago. I'm just awaiting quotes on
a) Thermo
b) Thermo & T/Belt & Pump

As per last post (I didn't quote you) sorry I didn't get notification so I didn't reply sooner.
I've just returned from a test drive again. Both fans come on strong (really loud) once temp shows...
Sorry for not replying sooner but I didn't get a notification of your reply. I'll check if I have notifications off.
I'll read this now, cheers & very much appreciated. It's certainly a strange...
Just something I find strange. When I pull over after it reaches 100-110 on the gauge needle. The fans running. The gauge drops temp back toward 90deg notch pretty quickly. I can watch it slowly...
I've bought a Topdog 500 of eBay so hopefully it'll get here next week & I'll check codes etc before I lunge into ripping stuff apart ;)
I'm leaning toward getting a Diagnostic Tool next week. I hope that'll tell me real temp readings so I can compare & perhaps it'll throw a code or 2 up? Looking @ a Topdon 500. At least it's sent...
I'm after the OEM part number for the thermostat that sits in housing, not the Thermo housing. I have found the # for the o ring but not the thermo??
The other thing noted was I never get a...
No unfortunately. I'm leaning toward it being the thermostat not opening. The way the gauge acts as in sits @ correct 90deg celsius for 5 mins or so then, climbs steadily to hot. I doubt it's a...
