    Default Q5 Keyless Entry Issues

Hey guys, long time lurker here. Having some issues with my wife's 2010 Q5 3.0TDi and it's keyless entry / advanced key system.

Symptoms: go to open/unlock driver's door with key in pocket/bag, lights flash but door doesn't unlock. Try using remote key to unlock, again lights flash and door doesn't unlock. Can open drivers door with the emergency key in the door lock itself.

Notes: other doors and boot unlock, it's just the driver's door that doesn't at this stage.

I don't think it's battery related, given the rest of the car unlocks.

    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

Initial search yielded not much but I've just found this. Will read.

Any advice in the meantime is appreciated.

I should add, the car battery is just less than 12 months and I haven't tried changing the batteries in the remote (one remote is dead but I thought these were rechargeable keys - have recently read they're not and require batteries).

    More research to be done!

Reading on another forum, I may have found the issue - failed microswitch within the lock.

Unsure on this forum's policy on linking to other forums so please remove these links if not allowed (I'm putting them here for others' reference).

no problems in the link, that's fine.

You should get your car scanned for errors. It should come up with the issue and hopefully the part that is faulty.

    Where are you located?

Thanks mate. Is a scan a dealer-only deal or will a Euro specialist (such as BMS Autohaus in Darlinghurst) have the gear too?

I'm in Sydney - just updated my profile.

    Thanks mate.

I now have a 'glow plug' warning light flashing at me too - yippee

Can anyone recommend a decent Euro service centre around Five Dock (that's not the stealership)?
