Put some old Pirelli tyres I had lying around on the rims and then toe out 2mm on the front and Toe in 2mm on the rear, still need spacers to clear the BB kit but only have the 10mm non hub centric set- which don't track as well as factory tyre scrub (no spacers) but the rims need 1 or 2mm clearance on the spokes to run without spacers which I will get done when I have time, but the current setup did help and I posted a new best time of 26.60 seconds- enough to get me 5th overall (50 odd entrants) and 2nd in class Pipped by (a margin I cant touch- yet - 26.16 seconds) a late model WRX running semi slicks which came 1st in class. and 3rd overall. 4th overall was .2 seconds faster than my best time- so Im extremely happy with the results.
heres a run up the hill in car

Great effort. Looks like a lot of fun. I'd be very happy with 5th outright. Goes to show what a bit of ethanol and quattro can do!
