Default SQ5 + Progressive Insurance.. thoughts?

Hi all, first post for me!

Ive very recently bought into the Audi family for the first time , with a MY15 SQ5. A significant step up from my 2010 Tiguan!

I have decided to go with Progressive insurance - with a annual premium of $1260 (28 years old) at a value of $64k for the vehicle.

im very happy with this price, but has anyone out there been burned by Progressive? Or alternatively have any good experiences? I’m keen to hear thoughts either way!

No experience with Progressive, but generally you'd want to make sure your policy includes:

•Absolute choice of repairer (not just choice from the insurer's list) - if you have an accident you'll want your car to go to the best possible panel shop, not the shop best suited to the profits of the insurer

•The ability to list and fully insure legal modifications should you choose to modify the car - not just in terms of ensuring they don't void a claim due to the mods, but so they'll cover the cost of those mods as part of your agreed value

•Ideally a high and lifetime protected no-claim bonus

•Provision for a free loan car of similar type and value in the event of a no-fault claim (no point if you need an SUV for the family but they'll only cover a Yaris), and for an extended period of time (our RS6 was off the road for nearly 8 weeks waiting for a radiator from Germany, most policies only cover 14-21 days of loan car).

If you've got all those features on the policy then it sounds like a good deal.

Many youngsters (and for understandable reasons) make the error of selecting insurance by price and not content.
For this reason I remain with the NRMA who can provide everything but even then it was not that simple.
It took me cold calling NRMA at least half a dozen times, including a couple of early evening calls to try the WA based consultants to eventually get the contents and the price correct.
The variance was as much as $300 per annum between what was offered but one evening I called a guy in Perth and he was legendary and carefully stepped through every option and retained my business.
NTHe SQ5 is a very nice choice. For a diesel it motors well and provides a very competent package; it's a shame that the chassis dynamics were never effectively addressed as it's a bit ponderous in the handling department but overall does every most adequately.

pretty much all online only insurance companies are tough to deal with when claiming. budget direct, youi, etc. good luck with your choice. i ave always used big names like nrma, suncorp, allianz, qbe, shannons, ryno. in fact, i shop around each year to keep them honest.
i used coles insurance as well (wesfarmers), never had to claim, but had to deal with them when someone backed into my other car and had to pass along insurance details. no issues with coles insurance

in regard to loan cars, most policis only provide you a loan car if your fault, if not your fault, you dont get (or only get for short period), but there are other organisations that can provide you a free loan can for no fault claims.

My S3 is currently in the shop after someone in a Q3 ran up the back of me whilst I was stopped, a friend told me about right2drive who are providing me an A3 at no cost whislt my car is in repair, they even bring car to you and pick it up......
