Thread: B7 RS4 DRC replacement

  1. Default B7 RS4 DRC replacement

Hi all, just picked up a 2008 RS4 Avant with 96k klms and knew the shocks were leaking so got a good price. I want to retain the DRC system to keep it original, and looking at purchasing from ECS; does anyone have experience importing from ECS? Any thoughts on best workshops in Sydney? Any advice would be great, cheers.

You'll need to ensure whatever workshop does the work has the appropriate equipment to repressurise the DRC system after the replacement of the shocks (not many indy workshops will have it).

Beware that most independent workshops don't have the tool to pressurize the system and it usually needs to be done by an Audi dealership, not all dealers have the tool either for that matter. You will need to ring them to check. I know that VolksMuller Annangrove have access to one.

Also beware that if your DRC has been leaking for a long time then the DRC Control Valve can also be faulty as well. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ach/8e0616887/ I've got a set out of my car if you need them.

DRC is great, when it works, as there have be 3 revisions of the shock i believe but most people move to a coilovers as it is a guaranteed fix to the issue of leaking shocks.

I've got KW V3 and i'm very happy with the ride compared to DRC.

There's another post here about DRC http://www.ozaudi.com/forums/showthr...-RS4-DRC-fault

Hi all and thanks for the responses.

Well, an interesting development this afternoon. Took the car out to an old friend that used to work on my Sierra Cosworth and mostly specialises in Porsches and race cars. Put it on the hoist and turns out the shocks are not leaking! I bought the car from a BMW dealership that knocked $10k off the price as their own mechanics said there was a leak. Hooray for incompetent BMW mechanics...

Problem is there is oil leaking from somewhere and suspect it is the transmission mounts? are they oil filled as often the case?

Other find was some (miniscule) slack in the steering but on close investigation and much wriggling of wheels etc. we couldn't see where the slack was. Is this something anyone has found? gave tried googling but not much luck.
