    Default Should I be Worried?

I own a 2018 TT RS and went for a drive on Sunday and was travelling at approximately 80km/h when after a crest, the asphalt became a dirt road. The level of the dirt road was at most 10cm below the level of the paved road (and thatís being very generous). I heard a bang or loud knock from the underside of my car. My tyres and tyre pressure are ok and no warning lights have shown since my return. The change in level was not high enough to scrape the bottom of my car. Does anyone know what the sound might have been? I thought maybe the suspension maxing out? TIA.

P.S. Obviously I hit the brakes and reversed back onto the paved road.

Why don't you get it put up on a hoist for inspection, rather than guessing.

Yeah I know. I was just hoping to avoid doing it.

The car is almost completely closed below..the only part you can hit is the central part of the exhaust line..the rest is hard plastic everywhere!! Don’t worry, my TT went on the worst mountain roads!!

Thanks for the reply. I had Audi check the underside of the car and they gave it the all clear. Not that I rely on them 100%. I'm hoping the bang was just the suspension maxing out and no long term damage was caused.

I did something similar only on a dip in the road. No obvious signs of damage so reckon suspension bottomed out.

Sometimes knock sounds seem harder than they really are!
