I still got a lot more work to do.
This isnít really a part of my project but just extensive preventative maintenance really.
I still have the rear SQ5 diffuser to fit that I will need to custom fab an exhaust system up for.
Still got the front SQ5 grill conversion to do where I need to drill holes in the front bumper and relocate the parking sensors.
Still got the interior trims to swap out.
And I have to get the rest of the black optic trims.

Slowly putting the engine back together,
If it wasnít for the postal system It would of been all done by now. Still waiting on the supercharger seals from VAGparts. They said its going to take about another 2 weeks lol so, Im really just taking my time with this now.
got the injectors and intake runners in. Took forever to clean these up.
Gonna start on my airbox mod now.

    So Iv hit another hurdle.
Turns out the SQ5 Front bumper is completely different to the Q5 S-Line, even though they look completely identical.
The only difference being is the lower section, just below the grill having it a tiny bit larger than the Q5.

Absolute annoying being that Im going to have to buy a whole new bumper now but I was whoever advised from a panel shop that this will be more than likely.

Seriously you would not know this at all by looking at them.

As you can see, the lower grill section is completely different to the Q5 section being a few mill out.
By looking at them there is not really any way you can notice at a first glance that they are any different and I have absolutely no idea why Audi would have a whole different mould just for this.

Being that I have to drill the holes for the front parking sensors, Iíd probably compromise the paint at that point so I was already mentally prepared to get the bumper resprayed anyway, but after talking to a few paint shops, they advised me to get a new bumper, being that you will never get a good job done on a pre painted bumper.
I have had so many bad experiences with repainted bumpers so Im kinda just gonna bight the bullet on this one lol

    Still, just another setback.

What’s necessitating the bumper change (ie why not just stick with your standard Q5 bumper)?

I can see the difference in the two pics now... More air in to the radiator/inter-cooler on the SQ5 model I'm assuming.

You cant fit the SQ5 grill on the Q5 bumper.
As you can see the lower grill insert is completely different and wont work on the Q5 bumper

If I were you I would just stick with the Q5 grille and bumper. Not worth the cost of change if using new parts.

If you knew me than you know thatís impossible lol
Truth is I do want it resprayed but a lot of painters have advised me getting a good paint job on a used bumpers is almost impossible.
Iv had 2 bumpers peal on me after a respray and it drives me crazy.
