Our spy photographers have captured the 2023 Audi A6 sedan for the first time, which is set to receive minor visual tweaks front and rear.
A prototype of the facelifted 2023 Audi A6 sedan has been spied near the Ingolstadt plant, wearing camouflage at both ends.
It follows shortly after the the mid-life update of the Audi A8 was officially revealed, which gives us an idea of what to expect for the A6‘s mid-life update.
We expect the facelifted Audi A6 will debut in 2022 at some stage as a 2023 model.
Up front, there’s a restyled front bumper with redesigned air intakes.

We also expect to see some minor changes to the grille designs across the facelifted A6 range.
This prototype in particular appears to have the S line package fitted, hence the darker grille insert.
Compared with the facelifted A8, this A6 prototype doesn’t appear to have a redesigned headlight housings and instead only has a reworked daytime running light signature.
The side profile of the facelifted A6 looks the same as the current model at this stage.

Seeing this is a mid-life update, we don’t expect Audi to change much on the side apart from potentially offering a new range of alloy wheel designs.
Down back, there appear to be minor changes to the rear bumper plus a new tail light signature.
OLED tail lights could be an optional extra, just like the ones seen on the facelifted Audi A8 and Q5.
We have yet to see the interior of the mid-life updated A6 but we expect only minor changes.

Powertrain options will likely carry over, with the current line-up consisting of turbocharged four- and six-cylinder petrol engines with mild-hybrid systems.
Set to join Audi’s electric lineup in the future and be sold alongside the A6 is the all-electric A6 e-tron.
Shown off as a near production-spec concept at the 2021 Shanghai motor show, the A6 e-tron will be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture co-developed by Audi and Porsche.

An evolution of the J1 platform used in the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan, Audi says its first PPE-based models will be introduced at the end of 2022 and its first model launch will be the Q6 e-tron SUV.
The A6 e-tron measures 4.96m long, 1.96m wide and 1.44 tall, which is extremely similar to the A6 sedan in overall dimensions.
Audi’s current plan is to debut its final global internal-combustion engine (ICE) model in 2025, with the Ingolstadt automaker going all-electric by 2033 in all markets apart from China.
