Default Car Covers - what are you using

Instead of reviving a thread for 10+ years ago, I'm starting a new one

With the S3 living outdoors (first time I've owned a car in many years that I can't fit in the garage), I'm in need of a car cover.

I bought a cheap one from supercheap, but it's disappeared already. I think the wind took hold of it and it sailed away. On the 2nd day of owning it, in a heavy wind, it ended up in my neighbours, so it's no real surprise (only had one clip in the center of the cover to go under the front of the car).

Anyway, so I'm looking for another one.

I had what I thought at the time was a great custom one for my A4 many years ago. It came from a company called covercraft... They seem to still exist, but reviews are poor, so not sure if they have changed hands/sold out etc. The one I had for the A4 "breathed', so it was good in that way, and I never noticed any damage/scratches to the black car.

So, what is anybody using, and can recommend, or keep away from? Are covercraft any good? I was close to checking out on one from car covers australia, but the reviews are shocking online for them (Australia Car Covers | ProductReview.com.au)

Still using this. Can't recall who made it, an Australian firm but it has been fine. Still 7-8 years ago and things change so I guess you start from scratch. One thing, always have a hail cover on hand. You'll be livid if you get one of those storms and don't have it fitted.

It could be one of these by the looks of it.

Heard great things about the autotecnica brand. A premium over other covers but have been around for a long time.

That's actually quite a lot cheaper than the ones from the other companies that I mentioned above.

    I'll check them out, thanks.

It was ordered from Covercraft Pacific, but like you, 7-8 years ago. I can recommend this one but can't say about the current range of product.

Was discussing this with the old man the other day who has a myriad of cars, I asked him which cover was the best and he said the Autotechnica one.

I think he has a few others from Supercheap and some of the Aldi ones.

I've got one on order (can't remember brand now!)... let's see how that goes.

I think some of the old names are still being used, but may have 'sold out', or changed suppliers. The one I had for my B6 A4 was fantastic, did the whole breathing thing (but wasn't hail proof), but lasted for many many years (gave it away with the car when I sold it)...

I did go back to their site, but they have definitely changed and their product(s) are not as good as they used to be from the reviews (ok, so most people only put on negative reviews, so it's always a bit bias).

Anyone used a car umbrella like the one from Lanmodo?

I know I'm being precious but I'm considering getting one for when my car's left at the train station all day.

Wow, just looked at those, pretty special..

I wonder how they would go in a big wind? Would the straps scrape the car (or could it also just fly off!)?
