Thumbs down Don't you hate it when everything just goes wrong

Ok, so was supposed to be a simple job.

Replace two taps and spout. Simple job as I've already replaced the taps once (with cheapo's).

Anyway, 5 hours later and it's leaking and I'm giving up!!!!

It envolved having to cut out the old ones as they were so stuck in, then the new ones 'joiner' pipe didn't fit for the new spout, so I had to use the 'old' joiner and 'old' spout... Not a problem I thought...

So I had to cut the length of old spout as it was too long for the new taps... and the list goes on and on....

This on the back of my brand new PC stopped working after 3 weeks of doing nothing wrong. Look like motherboard issue and DDR5 ram for some unknown reason...

Finally, trying to get our forum upgraded to vbulletin5 (or invision community) is a pain. Server should be fine, but won't update the OS, so I'm on to support to get that working. Invision Community is up and running for ozVAG, but not working 100%, again, something to do with the server.
ozBMW is running vbulletin5, but I can't modify styles, and some other issues, so that's also a pain!

    Sometimes things should JUST WORK..

Then again, all first World problems compared to what others are having to face at the moment (war, covid, floods)...

    /end whinge.

    Sounds painful. Water cooled servers?

I didn't realise you guys manage the servers for this forum and the soon-to-be-new-forum.

How does that all work cost, support, and motivation wise?

By 'you guys', it's just me

I have one server that I have to pay for. It houses all the ozFamily of sites.

I have to pay for it, the support, and all the forum software. On a very good year, advertising pays for some of it, on most years, it does not.

I don't run them to get any profits, it's just a hobby that I love and is a bit like a charity to me, I'm giving something back to the various communities

Well kudos to you, Sir. I had no idea but in hindsight it seems obvious that nothing is free.

Is there a donation part on each of the 'oz' family forums?

No donation part.. There might be in the future (some of them run a 'buy a drink')... Just need to get the boards up to modern version so we can link to other systems etc and hopefully help a greater community
