Stage 1 ECU tune

I want to get a stage 1 tune for my S3. My friend said that I should be careful because power and torque are inversely proportional I’ll end up getting a higher top speed that I can never use but worse torque which is what you want off the lights.

I looked it up and they ARE inversely proportional however APR claims an increase in both and now I’m genuinely confused if it will make the take off worse than before. Any advice?

I've not heard of any tune the drops torque.. all the ones I've seen increase both hp and torque...
