2022 8Y RS3 Flat Bottom Steering Wheel

Why do UK S3 YouTube reviews show the car with a flat bottom wheel?

Would it not be possible for Audi Australian dealers to order one and replace it?

From memory the flat bottomed steering wheel option was tied in with the adaptive cruise, if you optioned the car with it then you couldn’t have the flat bottomed steering wheel as they don’t come with the sensors to detect if your hands are on the wheel. The RS models in Australia come highly spec’d as standard and there isn’t many extra options you can tick as they will already come standard over here but overseas you can get a base model RS3 in very plain form so you can decide against the adaptive cruise and get the flat bottomed wheel where as I think the adaptive was standard in Australia so no flat bottomed wheel hence why you see the RS3 overseas with it. I didn’t watch all the video but I suspect that S3 hasn’t got the cruise option. Dealers aren’t going to mess with cars here and potentially cause issues so it’s basically if you want the car this is how it comes attitude and if you don’t like it there’s plenty other customers that will take it.

Exactly Dan. What’s the BIG deal over a flat Botton steering. Even to the point of some saying it is a deal breaker without it. Go buy another car then. SIMPLE. Actually I don’t drive holding the flat Botton. I hold it on the round part. Go figure.

Yeah, I initially was disappointed when I ordered mine that it wasn’t going to come with the flat bottomed wheel until I had a track day with a bunch of RS models and found the round wheel was much better to use when driving at pace around corners and the flat bottomed wheel was actually annoying. I have no plans to change from a round wheel anymore
