8V VCDS Mods

So running on AUTO lights setting isn't helping?

I don't like the auto function as it needlessly turns the lights on when not necessary, it's got DRL's to be seen.
I would like to enable my dash lights on all the time so that I can see the gauges under varying light conditions.

I run AUTO. Can't say, other than a dark tunnel, that it EVER turns the lights on in any fashion other than expected or needed.
DRL's are then constantly active as is the ability to have the remainder of the onboard lighting active and adjustable.

I wonder if anyone can help me with this. I have a S3 MY18 with matrix lights. They just don't seem to work in auto mode at the moment. I've only really been in the suburbs... well lit areas etc. I found a few tweaks that I wanted to try, but the options just aren't there for me.

These are the ones i'm looking for... they are supposed to be in the A5 module... but there is nothing even close to these options. I found reference to the static AFS

Activation speed for high beam assistant
Speed threshold for high beam recommendation off
Night vehicle detection activation brightness 3 lx
Night vehicle detection deactivation brightness 20 lx
Main_Beam_Assist_Urban_Area_Detection On
Urban_Leaving_Velocity 255 km/h

Going to find some darker spots tonight and see if I can get them to work. They just seem kind of useless if they only work in really dark areas... there are definitely streets around my house where I would normally put highbeams... but If i have to be going above 60km/h it seems silly.

They only work when no street lights around. Has to be relatively dark (ambient) also. Mine come. on from relatively. slow speeds... around 30 I think...but should be just coincidence for when I hit a dark area at whatever speed I'm going.
I think that high beam assistant is for the non matrix lights.

I thought the entire point of the matrix was that they would effectively be on all the time and disabled in sections around cars and other bright light sources. I don't think they turn off sections when I just turn them on (though now I'm not sure and will test that as well), they have to be in auto mode... but in auto mode they are just never on... so they are just like normal lights at present.

Edit: for some reason i posted in angry bold initially

I feel your pain. On my new RS3 the non-matrix lights automatically switch to low beam when I get below 60 kph even though there aren't any street lights for miles around. And it's in these sections in particular that I'm on the lookout for wildlife.

So zero, or maybe one street light before they will come on. Active at 60km/h and then disable at 40km/h or if a lot of street lighting around. I don't see why they have to been so restrictive considering how they are designed. Is there anyone who knows how to change these settings at all?

Matrix lights are not on all the time. You have to tap the light stalk forward and have the light wheel set to Auto as well. You will see 'Auto' or a white beam icon on your dash, can't remember which one. When i did my 1000km NSW drive on all types of country roads and highways, the matrix lights were a god send. Don't forget the matrix lights were designed for out of city driving, not inner city driving. I notice on occasion the matrix lights won't dim until the last moment on inner city motorway driving.

Hi there everyone

New to the forum.

can anyone help with some coding my RS3 near north sydney?

Thinking of oil temp, live traffic, enable video when moving, disable stop/start

Thanks in advance

As stated, mine matrix lights need to be manually set to auto, once on auto it only activates in dark areas and over a certain speed to my experience some where over 60km/h I don't generally turn it on but might play with it more to see what the minimum speed is for it to activate.

Once it is on, the icon in the dash for the lights will change color as well.

I 100% agree they are amazing when they are on. My issue is they don't turn on enough. While they aren't required in the city... I would not agree that if there are more than 2 street lights and you are going below 60km they aren't required. A quiet suburb at 40km/h is the perfect time for them to be on... make seeing kids and animals much easier.

I understand that the normal main beam assistant needs this restrictions. If there are too many street lights how does the sensor know if its a street light or another car... so keep it off... but for matrix lights, it shouldn't matter.. just dim that section with the streetlight/headlight and light up everywhere else.

Surely there must be a setting we can tinker with to enable them in more situations. I'd love to get more use out of them, because as you said... they are incredible when they are on.

Acoustic (Alarm beep) on Lock/Unlock

Hi all,
I have carried out the coding changes below, but I still don't get an audible beep or horn noise when I lock the car. The option is now visible and enabled in the MMI system, but it doesn't work. My car is a 2014 MY15 A3 Convertible. Is there any reason why this mod' wouldn't work on my car?

Acoustic (Alarm Beep) on Lock/Unlock
========================
[09] Central Electronics
Adaptation channels :
(1)-Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung entriegen (Un-lock acoustic feedback)
(2)-Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung verriegeln (Lock acoustic feedback)
Set each or one of them to Yes

Acoustic Lock Menu in MMI
=================
[09] Central Electronics
Adaptation : Acknowledgement Signals -Menuesteuerung akustische Rueckmeldung
Set Yes

Your car must have alarm for the lock beep unlock beep to work

I'm looking at my cars "Vehicle-Specific Information" that I downloaded from audi.com (using my VIN) and I can see that I have "Electronic immobilizer" but nowhere does it mention "Without alarm". Alarm is not mentioned at all. Was an alarm even an option on the 2015 A3 Convertible?

To clarify, the beeps work off the alarm system speaker. So having an immobaliser is not enough. Have the same issueon another Audi I own when I tried to code the beeps.

The speed in which Automatic High Beam is activated can be adjusted via OBD11/VCDS.

Hi guys, I need some help. Does anyone have coding for MY17 S3 8V FL for...

Video in motion
Traffic light recognition
Display G metre (I know it doesn't record, just shows)
Display Power and torque (like the RS models do)

OBD ELEVEN has an app for VIM but not the others...

If you are talking Traffic Sign recognition, not traffic light...

Traffic Sign Recognition
Controller 5F - Activated: Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-traffic_sign_recognition_0x21
Controller 5F - Activated: Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu_menu_display_road_sign_identification
Controller A5 > 07 - Coding > Byte 16, Bit 4 Enable - "01 traffic sign recognition (FTE) active"
Controller 17 > 07 - Coding > Byte 5, Bit 2 Enable - "Traffic Sign Recognition installed"
Controller 5F > 07 - Coding > Byte 24 Bit 6 - untick "Traffic Sign Display (VZA) active"

G Force Display Enable:
17 - Instruments
Coding > Long Coding Helper > Byte 10
Enable bit 2 Display 'Acceleration'

... no power or torque for me, as S3.
