Airbag Recalls

Hi fellow members,

Since the announcement of the faulty airbag recalls, I have made sure to do my checks with my vin and rego with the dealer and other resources, after being told that my vehicle was not affected, I was shocked today as I have now found that I am affected.
Today i had decided to visit https://ismyairbagsafe.com.au/ to do a check which showed I may be affected and to confirm with the Audi's VIN search. https://forms.myaudi.com.au/takata-recall?embeded=true also showed that I am affected

Advise everyone to do a check even if you have done so previously in the past as I had also performed. No cost for doing your checks and being safe

My recall is for my 2006 A4 B7 (Passenger Side only)

UPDATE - Just picked up my B7, process only took about a hour. Ecu tune is unaffected. The whole service lot was a B7 day :))
Also had a complimentary Q5 loan car, make sure you request this when booking or you won't be provided with transport on the day.

Thanks for that. I've put this as a sticky, and a copy in the Help Me section, so hopefully others will check also.

Hi everyone, having my airbag recall work carried out today (2010 A3 TDI) am concerned that while they have the car they will do the software update for emission voluntary recall ....... which i do not want to occur. Has any one had any dramas in this regard?

thanks for your help

Any updates shouldn't disadvantage you. Do you have an ecu flash? Is that why you're not wanting any updates

Hi all. Have any B7 owners had their passenger airbag replaced as yet?

I have not yet been contacted by Audi Australia. The repair schedule is Nov-Dec. Make sure your contact details are up to date and registered with Audi so they can contact you to book in the recall work.

I get mixed messages re whether rs4 is affected or not. All the websites keep talking about A4, but the rs4 wasn’t built with the a4 or even in the same factory?? It may well have used the airbag, but it’s not helpful to put rs4 with a4 as it’s really a different car.
I guess I will just keep in touch with Audi...

Yes, RS4 is affected. Its uses the same passenger airbag as A4. RS4 is a variant of the A4 so to speak, alot of the interior parts are the same.

Put your VIN into the following site https://www.audi.com.au/au/web/en/owners/Takata-Airbag-Safety-Recall.html

FYI - I just got my recall email from Audi Aus.

Just got my letter for recall stating that the Frontal Takata airbag inflator is subject to a Mandatory Safety Recall. Also states must be replaced by the end of 2020.

Got my recall for the RS4, drivers side front. Only thing is I changed the wheel to a RS6 FBSW in 2013. I sent them the serial number of the current airbag to see if it is subject to a recall. No response as yet.

How did you find the serial number of the swap over? Did you have a pic, or did you use vagcom/vcds? Mine's been swapped on the S5 as well..

The serial number is printed on a label on the air bag. Undo the screws that hold the airbag onto the steering wheel you should be able to see it easy enough.

I thought it was the passenger airbag in the B7 not the drivers side.

Received an update from Audi Australia, earliest they can have me booked in is 2nd week into Feb 2019...
Does not look to be as an urgent recall as I would have thought it to be :/

Anyone have luck getting in sooner?

Got my letter a week ago, booked in for the 24th Dec, this is Audi Brookvale, had more times later on but this suited me.

Had my passenger airbag in the RS4 done today by Bellbowrie Motors in Coffs Harbour. Only took about an hour and all is good :_b:
