Audi B9.5 S4 V6 tfsi coolant issues

Haven't had the car for long and not familiar with it.

Mostly do short runs to work so car rarely gets up to temperature.

On two occasions have done a longer trip and caught up in traffic; temperature gauge hovers around 90 - 100 and get a smell of coolant.

Twice after these runs warning lights popped up a day later and have added 1.5 litres of water to reservoir.

Never any puddles or marks under car's parking space.

No obvious signs of leakage around engine.

Any ideas?

Thanks Michael.

For any one curious out there it was a leaking water pump with a silly design fault allowing water into an oil gallery. Caught early enough hopefully so no engine damage evident.
