Audi UR Roll call

Mt Eliza Ur quattro

Hi Glenn,

I saw your car in my street a few weeks back.

Bernie

Happy to add mine to the list. Like all , I am curious to know how many real quattros there are in Australia.

White UR quattro October 1983
Single headlight / Analogue dash/ Fuchs 5 spoke wheels / Factory sunroof.

Located in Mount Eliza, Victoria ( 45 km SE of Melbourne )

Delivered brand new to Australia via the VAG European Delivery plan ( all documents to support on hand) This is one of the cars purchased by the Rainsford's of Chateau Moteur in Adelaide.

I have owned the car for 15 years and have maintained in original condition.

Recently on display / for sale at The Classic Throttle Shop in Sydney.

I am planning to offer the car for sale soon in order to move on to another project. ( if I can part with it ??? The drive home from Sydney was a classic reason/reminder not to sell ! )

Regards Glenn.

Mt Eliza UR quattro

Hi Bernie ,

I don't believe the car you saw was mine. There is another white UR quattro in Mornington. ( that is unless I had the garage door open and you drove past !)

I have been concentrating on the MG Car Club Championship this year so the quattro has been securely tucked away in the garage. Hope to get it out a little more soon.

Thanks Glenn.

Yes, there's two more here. There's a Zermatt 1985 (WR) and a Lagos 1988 (MB)

KB has at least one over at his place (just up the road from me). Rumoured to be driven largely by his wife.

Red MB is for sale :(

Yep Zed, I do still have my January '81 UR. Silver #421. the original Kerry Packer car that I converted to RHD in my workshop back in '82. Stiil low K's. Haven't driven it since 2002, mechanically fabulous, in need of a paint freshen-up. Old enough now to be registered as a club plate car, so I might just experience the beaut ride around the range once again. Could be on the market to the right buyer as I am getting on in years and it is a car that can be used on track days if one felt the need. I am doing supervising at the tracks these days, so out of he cockpit, finally.

1984 WR Tornado Red - no modifications

Car is ex UK, purchased in 2000 and used until put into storage in 2005. Recently registered again for a mates wedding. Next step will be to see if i can get club registration as full reg costs are to high for a car only driven a few times a month. See below

In Victoria at least i believe this is 25 years

From Vic Roads Website "Classic and Historic vehicles - manufactured after 31 December 1930, but more than 25 years before the date of the application for a club permit."

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home...ationsAndDefects/OtherPermits/ClubPermits.htm

At least i hope this is correct, don't want to pay full rego for another two years!!

Wonderful to hear from you KB and great to hear the silver WR is still there. Tell me, is it the one that was listed for sale by a yard in Brisbane a year ago? That was claimed to be the Packer car also. Big price tag on it too.

On the club rego... yes Mal, thirty years in Queensland too last time I checked.

Ta for that. I did know that Packer had two but I didn't know they were both silver ones.

There were two. KP was never the one to do anthing by halves. So the car I have and one later model we bought in UK. Which had the engine enhanced by Terry Hoyle. Kept and used there for a while before bringing it down to OZ.

Neither car did a great deal of work and last I heard of the second car was when it was in the hands of Steven Knox, who, as many did, had it serviced at my shop. In fact we looked after at least twelve UR's at any one time during the 90's.

I have bitten the bullet and at the moment going through the old girl readying it for sale. New brake master cylinder, pressure limiter, fuel pump accumulator and anything else I feel age has lifed.
