HELP ME: B7 RS4 Aus Compliance Plate.

Hey community,

I’ve just bought and taken delivery of my 08 B7 RS4 Avant,

I love it, however, I unfortunately can’t get it passed for RWC registration as no one at 3 separate work shops now can find the compliance plate.

I am a car lover but not a mechanically capable human haha so I’m at a lose, any advice would be fantastically appreciated.

How did you purchase it if there is no compliance plate. Was it a new UK import as I thought there was a 25 years rule for them to import one?

I’m assuming it has a compliance plate, I just can’t find it.

I bought it from Victoria, it’s been registered here for over a decade.

EDIT: I ran a search on my 2019 VW and unfortunately it states it pre-dates RAV and requires a plate. Sorry, but you may need to find that physical plate.

Check firewall, strut towers, A pillars, B pillars, boot under false floor etc. Spare wheel well (if you have one) Good luck

This grabbed my attention because my MY26 RS3 has no compliance plate, and I had been looking for it a few weeks ago out of curiosity.

I did a bit of digging and apparently newer cars compliance plates have been replaced (2021 Government initiative) by a database called Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV). It is fully digitised compliance for ADR approval. Your model precedes the introduction of RAV, however it wouldn't hurt to try. It would prove ADR compliance for your inspection station.


If you need to prove ADR compliance for registration or state transit authorities, you can enter your 17-digit VIN directly into the Government RAV search portal to pull up your digital compliance certificate.
