Intermittent aircon blower in Q7

Qldq7

New member
Just recently the blower fan in my 2008 Q7 has been playing up. Usually it will operate at start up but after a couple of minutes the air stops blowing. It will start blowing again, with cooling air after maybe 10 minutes, but stops again after about 2 minutes. It cycles like this on and off.
At first I thought this might be a temperature sensor, so I replaced that (behind the glove box) but that has made no difference. I did compare the resistance of the new sensor vs old sensor and they were the same, with both showing reducing resistance as the sensor was warmed.
I have noticed that this issue occurs more in hot weather (unfortunately) approx 27° or more. Below about 22° it does operate more consistently.
Has anyone experienced this before, and what was the cause and fix?
Thanks.

How did you go with getting it fixed? I have the same problem. I initially replaced the original blower fan with a second hand one from a wrecker and it worked fine - for a time - until it has now completely stopped. I can get the fan to run intermittently but as soon as I install it its a no go. I ran a multimeter over the resistor module and according to a you tube I found it indicated it was the problem. I bought a new one off ebay (probably non-genuine) and installed it but the same problem. Maybe I need a new fan and resistor? I'm not an auto electrician so I don't know if a problem in one part causes the other to behave as having a problem as well.... Would be good if there was some definitive diagnosis available but sifting through hours of you-tubes, Chat-GPT enquiries doesn't seem to really pinpoint the problems and fixes.
