Lock Nut Socket Help

Was taking the wheel off the A6 to check for a slow leak. Put the lock nut socket on the impact gun (battery, so not THAT powerful) and the socket just sheared. Now I'm stuffed. Has this happened to others? Should I have not used the impact gun on the lock nut socket?

I can swap the lock bolts with normal wheel bolts from my spare A4 (thankfully same size) so this won't happen again. But I need to get the lock bolts off the A6 in the first place. Anyone have a "R" lock nut socket they can lend me?
 
Bit of bad luck. Unfortunately not any of mine but I understand that almost every tyre shop has a full set of lock nut sockets according to a few I've spoken to. Might be quicker to rush down to the local and ask.

My local garage and tyre shop didn't have one so I ended up going to Jax Tyres in Penrith. They very kindly lent me theirs from their kit and I swapped all the lock bolts with plain bolts. Once again the A4 spare parts car to the rescue.

Audi quoted me $115 for a replacement socket. I told him I can buy a whole kit for $115.

Couple of tyre places told me to do the lock nut by hand only (both undo and do up). The other bolts can use an impact driver.
 
Damn good show, good to hear that you got it sorted.

I am absolutely no fan of impact drivers. Sure, they save a few seconds but at what cost if you own the car? Every chance of stuffing threads that have some corrosion as you can't feel the drag as you try to undo the bolt. My tip: install by hand and use a torque wrench every time on all the bolts, inc the security bolt.
