Maximum wheel width for roadster

I’m hoping someone can please help me. I am getting conflicting answers. I have a 2003-04 tt 180hp roadster with 16x7 wheels on it.

can someone please tell what is the maximum width I can go to. Thankyou.
 
Be sure to consider the wheel offset too as that in combination with the width will determine what can/can't fit inside the guards.
