My new Q5, (watch this space)

Got both pipes all complete. Just need to weld the hangers now.
These where a prick to measure up.
A lot of cutting an swearing but I got there in the end.

I seriously can’t believe how much people are charging for 200 bucks of materials.
The pipe bends where about 80 bucks all up and the tips where 60 each.
No where near what people are literally paying for something like this

And if its for a Porsche Macan ya paying almost double.

How much time have you spent? @ $100 or more per hour, plus the have to make a profit on each one (I'm assuming 100%)...

Being that this is my first time doing this it was mostly a learning lesson for me. If I was to sell these Id probably just sell em for 400 bucks not $2000 lol
The welding it self takes like a few minutes.
The time is more in the measuring and cutting

Where did you get the one-to-two Y-shape sections from? ...or were they part of the tips? ...looking for something similiar

Nice one. Does a different length to the muffler make any difference ( not sure if yours are or not)...

I only just followed the path from the factory lay out.
I will eventually make a full system with a Magnaflow 11385 resonator.
Those things sound amazing with this engine

Nice one, I love the intake sound as well, and welcome back!!!

Are you going to black out the rear valance?

Sent from my SM-G985F using Tapatalk

The rear is done for now, I gotta work on the brakes and wheels next.
I bought the 034 Motorsport stage one tune and ZF tune
So should have them coded in next week hopefully

Looks great mate. Those things are huge! Did you paint the calipers yourself? If so, what did you use and how did you go about it?

I'm thinking of doing mine. The factory black is a little too subtle for my liking - need to change it up

Nah its factory brembo but…
If ya looking at painting em ya self, blast em all the way down to bare metal this is a must.
Dupli-Color Engine Enamel Grey Primer
Then coat in a 2K epoxy coat. You can get these in a can in what ever colour you want and you will get an outstanding finish and very durable.
I much prefer a 2K epoxy over powder coat being that the epoxy will handle way more heat then powder and will have way more definition and will look way smoother.
I know this sound strange that 2K epoxy will handle more heat but take into consideration that the powder they use for gloss finishes can only handle heat at around 300 degrees Celsius after curing.
You only get the benefits of powders when your after performance over look. For example Im getting the roof rails in a ceramic power coat that is way more durable then a gloss finish but the end result is a more of a mattish finish.
Gloss powders are the weakest of em all I find and they chip pretty easy. So if ya after a strong gloss coat, stick with a 2K epoxy.

I cant stress enough about blasting them down to bare metal. This is the usually the part everyone fails to address and most always ends with the coat flaking or pealing.
Im no painter but every painter will tell you its all about the primer. If you cant get that primer to stick, then your base or final will fail.
Those calipers where terrible when I received them and look brand new now.
Message me for more info if ya wana step by step.
If ya dont have a blasting cabinet let me know and I can strip and blast em for ya.
Im actually about to paint my rear calipers so if ya want me to do a post on em let me know and ill do a step by step process

Testy fit

Clears the wheels so all good to go.
Just gotta paint the rears and wait for the front pads to arrive and it should be all complete.

I would of had it done if it wasn’t for my compressor blowing up.so looks like I gotta get a new compressor tomorrow.

Also my 034 Motorsport tune kit came in today so another job on the board lol
I cant keep up with this build anymore.
Apparently ya need a laptop with Windows 10 so I think im gonna have to find a cheep laptop cause my Odis unit is win7 so I dont think I can use it.

Bummer mate on the compressor, what do you use? I've got the Hush range..

Also on your laptop, you could do a full backup, then put on win10, do your woekz then restore back to win7...

Perfect fitment, really fills up those 21” wheels

Now working on the rear calipers
Full removal and strip to bare metal
My little 10 year old Stanley unit burnt out so I went all out on a decent silent unit.

Spent ages stripping the paint off with little Stanley but ones I got the Fat man it was a lot easier.
Forgot to take pics of the calipers fully stripped being that it was about to rain and I had to hurry up and mask em before the rain came in.
Seriously every time I go to paint, it rains. The last 4 jobs iv done it has rained every time.

Its been a long day and im completely buggerd.
I think I pulled my back taking the compressor out of the car by my self.
I heard a snap and instant pain in my lower back and I felt like passing out lol
Last time I felt like this was out field cross carrying ammo from one tank to another out field lol
Might go to the doctors tomorrow if they are open.
Iv been flat out now that Iv just been told I gotta move in a few weeks, so I’m racing against the clock on this build now. Had to sell the hoist because my know location dont have the space and this car will probably have to go in storage till I buy a house.

Muckman on the move……..

Also my pads and tune kit came in the mail.
Also got a genuine Quattro decal that will look awesome on this build

Also bit the bullet and bought a whole set of tyres
a7dfcf14045388b50b075240aff31c14.jpg

So I should almost have this build done in a week or so.
Only thing left to do is, install the tune, paint the door handles and roof rails and its done.

For now
