Not Coming Back For a While

G'day all,

After 9 months of being without a car after selling my Audi, I've finally parked my ass into a 2005 M5. Therefore, I'll be on here even less now (was still visiting from time to time because I was still trying to convince the wife to get an RS4 next).

So thanks for all the good times on here, you have all been great. Special mention to ratty, Alister, dcc236 and of course Aussie Audi Guy who have all helped me on more than one occassion.

The M5 is an absolute beast... I picked it up for a good price, still with extended warranty to cover my ass for a bit, as well as having some of the basic mods that i'd do already on it (eibach springs, LED tailights from newer models, rear Remus muffler, and 20" Work rims). mechanically there's not much i'd want to do as it is way too powerful as it is.

Anyway, thanks again!

Cheers,
Linh

PS. Here's a quick pic taken from the previous owner... i haven't taken any shots yet as I only just received it late yesterday afternoon and it's going to be raining all weekend.

Congrats on the M5 Linh - looks tough!

Enjoy it and make sure to pop back in from time to time - would be good to hear how all is going.

Looks good mate, and remember just because you don't have an Audi doesn't mean your not welcome here..

Congrats Linh. The new ride looks sensational. My old man has an E39 M5 and I know how hard that goes so could only imagine what yours goes like. :woah2:

Congratulations. Very nice car with both performance and class.

No need to be a stranger even without the Audi.

Never saw this for sale....

Was it advertised? Looks very tough indeed.

Nice.
However I still think you should have gone for the M3.
At least the M5 will gives you rear doors for access to the baby seats....

Thanks for the comments all! I'll definitely still poke my head in and see what's happening from time to time...

I have more pics but they're all from the previous owner. Just waiting for a dry day to give the car a good detail before I take my own photos!

800088, no it wasn't advertised officially... was from a member of another forum that i had already been in touch with.

Aussie Audi Guy, i totally feel you! the SMG was and still is my biggest concern. functionality is growing on me. practically is good too. just reliability: time will tell haha... the extended warranty will at least give me a bit of coverage incase things (the SMG pump) break. *touch wood*

dcc236, hah! the boss still didnt like the idea of the M3... couldnt stretch the budget that far for it. if we could, i probably would've gone more towards the C63 though.

thanks again all! will have more photos asap. here's one from the previous owner:

worth considering

Ive seen a few drag races online with the M5 & RS4. M5 just seems to pull away from the RS4 everytime. The only factor that pulls me back from an M5 would be the interior and seats. Very dated when compared to the RS4 interior. Nice ride anyhow, and the engine note must be something still new to you... enjoy :-o

haha yea.. the engine note is certainly addictive. up till around 4k rpm or so, it's pretty subtle on the engine/exhaust note but after that, the fun just begins and you get that V10 "wail"...

the sense of speed definitely isn't there because it does it all so effortless. im easily at 100 in a blink of an eye and it is quite dangerous because i don't even realise it. im starting to get the sense of speed in it though.

0-60 and quarter mile numbers are similar to my old modded wrx wagon which i had before my audi but the massive turbo lag and then sudden boost ensures that you always know that you're on your way to triple digits but in the M5, it's a whole different story. it just wants to keep on going!

Nice ride man!

I love the blacked out grille, it really finishes the car off. Car looks tough as.

Went in the M5 Ring Taxi at the Nurburgring a couple of years back.... I was SOOOOOOOOO impressed with what this big car was capable of.... Sooo quick, cornered so well, and driven by a racing driver it was off the hook!

needless to say my two female passengers in the back had motion sickness after one hot lap....

Still get shivers thinking about the driver saying "ohhh yaah ok this is where we will be unleashing the 500 horses under the bonnet" (german accent.. lol)

LOL nice... i was in Germany for work earlier this year but didnt have enough time to stop by Nurburgring (it wasn't that far from me either).

by default, the power button is off in the M5 so it's only at 400hp. i have to get used to pressing POWER as soon as i get in. on friday when i got the car, i had a lot of ppl come check it out and every time i went for a drive, i forgot to have the power button on. everyone was still impressed - except for me because i'd then realise that it was off and would tell them "oh i forgot to set it to 507hp.......". love seeing the look on their faces.

thanks again for the comments everyone!
