0600Event North Edition

Hello Fellow OzAudi Members,

On Sunday the 5th of July, NSWs fourth 0600 event will take place.
I would like to extend the invite to the OzAudi community to join the group and I on an escape of the everyday where likeminded car enthusiasts cruise along some of NSWs best roads and explore new sceneries as the sun rises.

The plan is to convoy North along a new route for the 0600 events team.
The route will be revealed to those who wish to attend 2 nights before the event.
This will be a full day event with an approximate finish time of 14:00pm, however if you wish to leave at any stage you are welcome to do so.

What you can expect is beautiful sceneries, clear empty roads and lots of fun.
Please bring a full tank of fuel for the START of the event, we won't be stopping for fuel.
Please bring a UHF/CB Radio for safety reasons and it also makes it more enjoyable along the more boring bits.

Old members / new members you're all welcome to join.

I can't make it this Sunday but I am itching for a good drive day so maybe next time.

Excuse my ignorance but why is it essential to have a UHF Handheld radio? I assume one just has to listen not talk?

Would a 1W be ok?

I notice I can get an 1W 80ch GME TX-665 for $49 from Andrews which seems pretty good.

Or there are heaps on ebay like a BaoFeng BF-777S with more power (5W) but only 16ch. Any suggestions? :-|

Hey Don, thats a shame you can't make it this Sunday. From what I know so far it will be a good turnout with a good variety of cars present.
Its not essential to have a UHF, but highly recommended. Reasons why are because there some stages when people get left behind due to traffic, traffic lights etc and as a result can get lost and never find the group again. We've had a couple people get flat tyres or have had car issues and have pulled over and luckily someone has noticed otherwise they would have been left stranded with no help. Potholes, hazards on the road to look out for, oncoming traffic, sudden stoppage etc etc all reasons why its really useful to have one. Also for the boring parts its good to have a bit of a chit chat.

A 1W should be okay, you will be able to hear the guys with the 5W or 2W but they may not necessarily hear you. I recently purchased a 5W Uniden UHF and my mate who lives 15+kms away from me can hear me however I can't hear him as he has a 2W.

You can get a brand new Uniden 2W for $99 with all the gear to go with it on Ebay. I paid $155 for my 5W if you like I can share a link to you.
