RS3 8Y Modifications

$20k for a tune?? That's crazy.
For a new ECU which can do much more than the factory ECU allows, if you’re only doing a tune then definitely not worth it but is you plan on adding a few mods as well then from what I’m hearing it’s not a bad option as you can set so many safety parameters plus you can run any fuel and it tunes accordingly. That’s just a couple of things but you can program anti lag, have a few different maps to change to by using steering wheel controls , different launch control set ups and heaps more. I’m only just reading up on it and it sounds pretty interesting

Hi all,

New to this forum. I have a RS3 8Y. Just added a JB4 and cold air intake. Will leave it there for now. Cant wait to have the ECU cracked. At the very least to add some straight mid pipes. The sound i s very underwhelming.

Welcome.

There’s a few exhausts around that bring it to life a bit better but removing the OPF will give best results but I’m waiting on being able to tune it before I do that

Im waiting in that. All I really want to do is take swap the mid pipes out too straight. I just can be bothered spending more money on an emulator for $400 job. Hoping the ecu is cracked soon

Didn't you get a decent exhaust? i was reading further back in the thread

I got an Akrapovic and sound controller which made a decent difference, the sound controller is well worth it

Is the Akrapovic like the ASR? I am looking these, any reason you went with the Akrapovic

I think it pretty much does work like the ASR but I don’t know a lot about the ASR one and they are both plug and play so I suspect it’s pretty much the same thing. I just stuck with the AKRA cause it was the exhaust I got but I recommend a sound controller to anyone that wants a bit more from their exhaust as I’ve tried it with it and with out it and it does make a difference.

Question for those with body kits:

I have the standard audi carbon package. The rear diffuser is pretty turd. My question is that is you just replaced the rear diffusor with the say the AKRAPOVIC or ECS on its own, does the rest of the car look out of place with out the skirt or lip? Or simply mis matched

cheers

I installed the ASR this week. WOW, what a difference. Noticeably better. It would be even better if we could get rid of the dam OFPs

It makes a huge difference doesn’t it? My garage rumbles on cold start now quite badly, I have to get some pics of the “ factory performance” exhaust as it’s quite surprising the dents and restrictions in it, I was very surprised what I found when you consider it’s their performance version. I do agree with you about getting rid of the OPF but I will be waiting until it’s closer to the end of warranty and then I will replace everything up to the turbo and tune it.

I think you should be pretty ok just changing the diffuser and it won’t look too out of place, I think the car in stock form looks a little subdued so putting an aggressive diffuser on it with out the rest of the kit isn’t quite my thing

Hopefully they crack the ECU soon! My cold air intake has arrived. Ordered the ECS one and got stung on the import tax. With the diffuser I was hoping someone has a rear one and could confirm that which match the stock carbon. I have the carbon wing skirts and mirrors. I just want the diffusor not to lookout of place.
