RS3 Battery Longevity / Renewal.

Pickles

Wifey's RS3 is now 5 yrs old, & whilst every thing is fine, I was just wondering what others experience with respect to battery longevity has been, & if it has been replaced, how old was it, & who replaced it?
Along with many things these days, batteries & associated electronic stuff in cars appears to me to be a lot more complicated than it was. I remember with my old Commodores where I would just disconnect the battery terminals under the bonnet, lift out the battery, & put another in, without having to remove / check etc anything else. Simple, but a bit different on the RS3 I think.

I replaced my battery at the 3yr mark, didn't wanna be stuck in no man's land..

The replacement is quite simple, but need OBD to reset the battery parameters i believe.

Hi all,

My RS3 is approaching 6 years old & I still have the original battery.

From the beginning I nearly always turned-off the Auto Start/Stop & then installed an aftermarket chip some years ago to leave it in the previous setting. The reduced number of Start/stops helps extend the battery life.

There are quite a few other variables though such as the type of traffic you mostly drive in, air temperatures etc.

Although there are no signs of the battery reaching end of life, I am expecting to have to change it before my new RS3 comes along towards the end of the year :-(.

Cheers,

Michael

I'm surprised your battery lasted that long. i had a stuck in somewhere experience when my Golf R batt died at around 3.5yr mark.. so I decided to switch it out once it reached around that point.
