RS3 squeaky brakes

Hello,

I bought an RS3 last week and noticed squeaky brakes at low speeds. Coming to a dead stop is when they are noisy.
the car only has about 100km on the clock.

Has anyone else experienced this on their 8v. I know it was an issue on the 8p.
i can try bedding in the brakes and see if that makes a difference.

Interested to hear from you if this was something you have encountered.

Thanks.

Yeah I get a little noise when coming to a stop from slow speeds, however it is intermittent. I think I have about
4000km on the clock at the moment.

Only when they're cold, after putting them through a few decent (not even hard, just regular driving) stops that goes away.

Was a nuisance in bumper to bumper traffic inside a Westfield carpark once, especially going downhill towards the exit!

I've done about 1100 k's in mine and they do squeak a little. Intermittently. I thought it was because of the spacers I put on :)

I can report the same on my RSQ3, after I had the brakes replaced. Have done about 2k kays on them since. They were fine when I got the car brand new though..

Hi all,

My RS3 has covered ~ 6000 km & brakes also squeak when they are cold & car is coming to a stand-still. Seems to be a common problem & a little annoying. Planning to raise with the dealer during the next service & we'll see what they say.

Cheers,

Michael

Thanks for the feedback guys, so I'm not the only one
i just completed the brake bed in process this evening. Hopefully that helps, guess I'll find out tomorrow morning.

Can you please let me know what they say. Mine does the low speed noise since 1000kms on odometer and it's bad it traffic. I'm taking to dealer soon

This reminds me of the rs3 8p brake issues that effected 100's of cars.
I can report that even after bedding in the brakes, it still does it occasionally.
let us know how you go with the dealer. I will do the same.
cheers.

update:
spoke to Audi today and they mentioned that a few RS3 owners have already complained about noisy brakes but the issue isn't large enough for them to look in to an immediate fix. if they receive more complaints then this may lead to a resolution....

car is going back to the dealership next week for brake clean which they think may or may not fix the issue.

Interesting to note that apparently the S3 has issues with noisy rear brakes. They received enough complaints that a new version of brake pads is being rolled out. This was direct feedback from one of the technicians from Audi centre west Melbourne.

Hi All. Got this issue as well and about 3500 kms on the clock. It happens on slow stopping when the brakes are cold. After a few good stops it goes away. Extremely disappointing on car costing this much. Back to the dealer ASAP so keen to here how everyone else progresses with this issue.

Lucky you guys didn't get the ceramic upgrade...not that I have but the noise would 10 times worse...btw, my also squeak (2,000km) when cold but after they have warmed up, not so much an issue....I suppose its because of the big brakes?

Glad I just bumped into this thread... New 8V RS3, a few hundred kms on clock. My car does this constantly and have been planning to call the dealer, whilst at the same time hoping each day that it would go away.

Sounds like that's not going to happen given how common the issue sounds.

Have any RS3 owners NOT had the issue?!

Mine appears to be getting better. I took it to Sydney from Newcastle on the freeway and gave it a few really good long bursts for prolonged periods on the brakes, I think that's all it needed

I am assuming none of you have ever owned a car with a set of Ferodo DS3000 pads in it ;) Now that's noisy!!

The only way they will fix it is to replace the pads with a compound that may end up being less effective. I know pads have come a long way but its just a by product of a brake pad that works unfortunately.

If you ask me I would be complaining about that awful crackling and popping on deceleration, to me that's something that's an issue. It makes them sound sooooo cheap and to the general Joe a car that has some major tuning issues ;) Have seen several people in the city blocking their ears and giving RS3 drivers weird looks because of it lol

Thankfully these days, with the help of clever tech, you can press a button to turn the snap, crack and pop off... having said that, the sound it gargles out is the smartest emotional sales pitch any company could go for.

It sold me after driving the M2.

poshee, still no resolve so I'm going to have to make the time to take in the car, although deep down I know there's nothing they can do.

Let me know how you go. The guys at Audi explained that slow braking creates a glaze on the brake pads, creating the squeaky noise. After 2000kms it's a lot less frequent.
