RS3 squeaky brakes

Booked my car in with Audi Center Melbourne to have my squeaky brakes assessed. Will be leaving my car there overnight and taking home a loan car but to be honest.. I am a bit freaked out about leaving my car there due to the whole joy ride incident that's happening at some dealers these days.

Told them it occurs often within the first 5-10 minutes, so they want to keep it overnight to let it cool and do the test, measure the brakes, noise frequency test and fit dampers.

What's everyone's experience? Should i be worried?

I've just picked up my 8V RS3 up about an hour ago. I have had brake squeal from new, although temporarily fixed with 2 different sets of dampeners in the first year of ownership. That was fine for about 12 months, then 2 months ago the noise came back worse than ever. They did all the testing you mentioned and got approval from Audi Technical to replace the Discs and pads. Service mentioned that it depends how much usage of the brakes could determine if they replace the parts. No noise at all now, but a cold morning will be the test.

I should mention that they are modified parts from the originals, supposedly in response to the squealing.

Guy I changed my break pads about 1500km Avi and only now I’m getting a small squeal but intermittent.
Doesnt happen all the time. A bit annoying. If I change my breaking habit by breaking a little harder when coming to a stop, I doesn’t seem to happen.

"Braking a bit harder when coming to a stop"......that is exactly what Wifey does in her RS3.
She's had squealing brakes on & off from new, the dealer applied grease, it's not too bad now, we can wear it, after a long run it seems to disappear, then it'll come back a bit, but it's not too bad, next service I guess we'll have the dealer apply a bit of grease, and it'll fix things for a while. Like I said, it's not that bad, it seems to be only in the last phase of braking, just before one comes to a stop.
Pickles.

Tx Pickles - current pads perform almost perfectly - sure there is a large amount of brake dust which one expects from performance pads.
Worked around that issue to a degree by selecting the titanium dark grey wheels which almost match the brake dust for colour.
I have identified a set of EBC Red stuff sourced from the UK come the time for pad change - I used those all round on a SQ5 to great effect.
That said, if a closer to hand replacement is required I wondered what brand of pad is fitted to the Brembo brake units at build by the OEM.

Haven't seen this on my MY18 S3 8V. Yet. Wife has a MY17 Q7 4M though that squeals like a stuck pig. Had it on our X5 E70 too. Happens with big disc brakes, regardless of marque. Notice wife's car got worse after parking outside for a couple of weeks when we had stuff in the garage - maybe a dew/condensation/weather effect?

Hello,

I bought an RS3 last week and noticed squeaky brakes at low speeds. Coming to a dead stop is when they are noisy.
the car only has about 100km on the clock.

Has anyone else experienced this on their 8v. I know it was an issue on the 8p.
i can try bedding in the brakes and see if that makes a difference.

Interested to hear from you if this was something you have encountered.

Thanks.

Some people are suggesting replacing pads with EBC Redstuff pads........
