Sneaky sneaky police

Last sunday the 8th of nov, they underhandedly used thier Maroon Subaru Liberty GT to trap about 5 Evo's on Nunimbah road.

Just another car to look out for..

hehe yes... unfortunately I've been done by a Maroon Subaru Liberty as well on Clagiribah Road whilst on the cbr...... It's out and about! I've seen Tradie's utes too so Watch out - you could get DOMINATED by Anything these days!

I've seen this 1 technique that they use to catch people out when using the Highway Patrol cars.

On the way home one night, in front of me was a highway patrol car pulling out of a carpark driveway. They held back and waited for me to past where they then tailgated me closely. It was obvious that I knew that they were cops and weren't trying to make me go faster but they used me as cover to catch people going in the other direction. Which they did and freak me out because of them on my butt for a few minutes and suddenly the lights coming on. But they just slammed on the breaks and spun the car around and got a guy in a ute.

I've just heard they're putting 8 fixed speed cameras in the Clem7 tunnel.

They're going to charge us a ridiculous toll to use the tunnel and then fine us multiple times for every km over 63km. I'll just avoid the thing!

look out for a silver/grey Chrysler 300C on or around the Gateway. I have been working out there for a while and regularly see it on the prowl.

I was tailgated by a Ford ute with a lukey performance sticker in the back window one afternoon on the way home. Came storming up behind me then sat so close couldn't see his number plate and almost his lights. Followed for about five k's till worked out i wasn't going to move off the cruise control setting i was on. Then took off after an old ford with load of guys weaving across all the lanes............................

Oh to be a traffic cop sometimes with lots of toys.

Is it illegal to disengage the cruise control and glide down (no brake lights) to a "safe and legal speed" (ie 20km slower than the limit) when they do that to you? Coz that's what I do.. seems to annoy the crap out of em.

I have heard that on the GC they have a silver/gunmetal grey previous model VW GTI golf as an unmarked car, and the police persons were casual clothes, and are waiting for speedsters. Also that the motorbike police like to hide behind trees at night and chase speedsters...wheres the back roads fun of the old days gone?

Not sure about illegal. Free wheeling is dodgy ground i guess, like you can fail your driving test as you are not in full control of the car etc. Or failing to make progress for no reason, Sure if they really wanted to they would find something !!

Maybe they just annoyed as it would take them longer to get home at end of shift time or to servo for free coffee and biscuits !

They have a few of these out and about.

Also might be gone now but remember seeing a SS ute parked early hours of the morning in the pull off of the outside lane. All blacked out. Thought odd place to leave your ute. Well until it lit up and went charging after the car which had gone flying past me !
Lots of toys. Good for racking in the cash. If was a deterant would be nice marked cars !.

free wheeling isnt illegal is it?? , otherwise every manual driver whould be fined between gear shifts. i frequently free wheel down hills...as far as being in control..well my brakes still work.

I think what Maxius meant was to disengage cruise, keep foot off accelerator, and let the car roll down to a slower speed. I don't think he meant using neutral at all! Just not using the brakes!

I don't see the issue. In my old V8 Berlina, I had a cop follow me down the hill from Mt Evelyn (near Lilydale in outer east Melbourne) one night, as when I slowed down for the roundabout at the top, I'd used 3rd and didn't touch the brakes. So the whole way down the hill I kept it in 3rd and engaged cruise!
He tailgated me to try and make me use my brakes (or accelerate), but in 3rd on the cruise I held speed on that hill beautifully. At the next roundabout I did the same thing (no brakes), then the lights and siren came on, at which point I applied my brakes and brought my car to a stop - see the whole time he'd followed me, he hadn't seen my brake lights come on... Until I stopped the car.
Copper comes to the window "Evening driver, I've pulled you over for a... err... random licence check". Ha!

Yes, due to my most recent encounter with them, I have conformation that both Golfs The Black and Grey and also a white one I believe have gone to be used in and around Ipswich, watch out grogs in commys...
They tried to get me to race on the M1 and hit like 200km in doing so. They also have a fast Falcon Typhoon. There's even a black H2 Hummer getting around Brisbane... What gets me is the the govenment allows them to get these expensive cars and then mod them to use to entrap unsuspecting motorists!

Yes,..the old days, before t-hard and the furious came out and police had mostly normal vehicles. Now it seems you can't even go for a nice drive in the mountains..

Seriously? That seems insane to me, I didn't realise this kind of behaviour and things like tailgating to get people to speed up went on.
Surely they can't drive dangerously just to entrap people. Someone needs to take them to court when this kind of **** happens.

Yes serious.. I couldn't believe it either when the fu#khead who tail gated me across all 4 lanes of the hwy for 15mins+ turned out to be a pig.
Thanks to the hoons, they can do nearly whatever they like now.

Rest assured, I will be taking them to court next time...

Yesterday saw a Swift with a radar on the side window, how the fark would they catch you. GC QLD, near sth port!

It's hard to believe what they they use now..They'll probably get approval to put a turbo kit on it :)

speed cameras added

In context with the thread title, some more information.
There is an expensive array of cameras placed on the northern side of the Logan bridge/overpass (just past the Logan Motorway turn off) as you head north. Note how they have mounted them on the northern side of the bridge to deliberately try to 'hide' the cameras. As I say sneaky sneaky police..
