South-East QLD Dyno Day *Saturday the 18th of MAY! *

Cheers for the stats.

What sort of mods were on these:

Blue '02 S3 8L (Glen) - 140.9
White A3 8P (Schalk) - 146.5
A4 B6 1.8TQ (Reco) - 161.4

The XR5 went alright, going to be emailing the guys at Superchips about the odd AFR drop at the top of the revs - apparently not healthy!

My A3 has FMIC, downpipe, Carbonio intake and APR stage II ECU. Engine-wise, everything else is stock. I am pretty happy with the results considering the figues everybody else with similar engines ran. The power/torque curve has a decent gradient and smooth climb up to peak power when torque drops off a bit. I never checked that the ECU was on the APR program (and didn't revert back to stock) after disconnecting the battery for more than an hour 3 times last week. I blame alcohol. And I doubt it was on the stock program. But I still blame alcohol.

FYI for those that want to calculate torque from N to Nm - it is possible but you have to work out rotational distances and global warming coefficients and all kinds of stuff that I don't have the patience to do. You are much better off using one of the other methods that use the power figure.

Nice reco. Number not far off my initial dyno. How did it go with it? Any issues?

I was quite happy with the power, given that it's only boosting at 20psi.

The biggest issue I have is heat. I need a better intercooler to cope with the increasing heat after a couple of hard pulls. The first pull on this car is always nice, but after two or three hard pulls, timing will start to pull back.

Any new progress on your engine build?

You should grab that one for sale in the classifieds, I've got the same one and lot of the guys in UK run it. It keeps inlet temps down and has good flow

hey guys,

I emailed my tuning company about the drop in AFR at the top of the revs, it went from a steady ~12.5-12.7 down to 12/11.7.

They have asked:

Can you confirm how the AFR is being measured please, if it is via OBD11 or using a wide band lambda sensor connected via a boss in the exhaust then we can rely on the reading. However if it is done by shoving a probe in the rear end of the exhaust you can disregard the reading altogether, readings taken this way are unreliable.

Does anyone know how they were taking the AFR reading on the day?

edit: found out they do it using the wide band lambda sensor :)
