Waiting for your S3....

Thought this was a good suggestion by Dstanger in the other thread.

Should help bide our time and make the wait a bit less excruciating!

I'm stopping by the local Audi dealership far too often. They must think I have issues, or no life.

Mines build week 10, delivery by mid may. The more I say build week 10, the less far away it seems. :excited:

You new S3 8V guys are really a new breed that's for sure :)

True! Some pretty excited folks around!

I would go nuts if I tracked how long the car took to build, travel, compliance, clean, spot check etc etc.. It will get here when it gets here!

lol

I'm not going to even bother, build date will be when ever they change over to MY15 spec S3, so somewhere in June/July, and won't expect delivery until Sept or Oct.

Reason is we wanted Sepang Blue, and if we wanted that now, it would have been an "Audi Exclusive" colour, but that won't be the case on MY15 spec cars, so we basically saved ourselves $4k.

Man, the build times are already out to week 22-26 for current builds and that's not really including the official release of the s3 sedan.

You still have to wait for an official decision before they change over to MY15 build dates. A minimum of 8 months for a car...you crazy!

I waited 11.5 months for my A45, so 3 months should be nothing...:club:

Bain, with my build week 10, we may be on the same ship.

Yes. I had the A45 for 3 months and 4000km.

Thanks to the insane hype and wait times, the experience cost me nothing.

I quite miss the car, but am very much looking forward to the S3.

Can i join this thread since it seems all the SQ5 owners are out driving and dont post on here anymore :(

According to the dealer our SQ5 was built Feb 6th and i havent heard from the dealer yet with any more information. I would love to at least get a chassis number so i can start wrecking my life by attempting to track it instead of looking at carsales to see if the same car comes up for sale and in stock at another dealership lol

I test drove an A45, & could've got one immediately. However, after test driving both, we decided that whilst, "on the limit" the A45 would probably be the faster car, the S3 wasn't far behind, & was a much more comfortable car to drive. Quite noticable turbo lag in the A45 I thought. NOT knocking the A45, BRILLIANT little car, but for everyday driving Wifey & I thought that the S3 was the go. Ozsaudi84,What were your reasons for "moving on"?Cheers, Pickles.

So my reasons:
1. The S3 is gorgeous. I've driven the sportback several times now and I've seen the S-line sedan (it hasn't landed in the country yet). The car is just more 'me' than the A45. It's a bit more subdued. With the dynamic drive and magnetic suspension it can go from sports hatch/sedan to an everyday run about that's quite luxurious with the touch of a few buttons. The A45 is full on pretty much all the time, bar some adjustability to the transmission. It's very focused. The S3 treads the line between both worlds.
2. The A45 attracts far too much attention for my liking. And this in no exaggeration. The response from people has been unbelievable. People crowding around the car when its parked, asking me to wind down my windows at traffic lights etc.
3. The Audi has a level of perceived quality beyond any of its rivals. It feels like a 'German' car. Things thud the way they should and feel the way they should. I'm a huge sucker for quality feeling products and the Audi has won me over in that respect. The A-class let me down a little in that regard. Cost cutting was quite apparent and it lacked that Germanic feel evident in MB's more expensive products.
4. I get to experience something else without losing out financially. In fact I gained a bit. That's how much people are willing to pay to get into these things.

Don't get me wrong, the A45 is a fine machine. It's probably a superior sports hatch to the S3 at the very limit. But the S3 in my mind is the superior daily driver with enough hot hatch in its genes for my taste.

I couldn't understand how a car of this stature could still be using a manual bonnet stalk. Maybe I'm too picky but this was one of the things that threw me off about the MB.

Speaking of A45s, my apartment carpark now has been invaded by CLA45s now, with 3 new neighbours taking delivery in the same month LOL. I must admit, the CLA45 looks a **** load better than the A45.
