RS5 - 2012 COLD START

Hello everyone,
I was hoping to share my trouble with RS5, 4.2, hopefully someone may have a solution. In short car is garage queen, immaculate, all servicing upto date. Only gets driven when sun shines. I have noticed of late that on first start after not being driven for a week or so it struggles to crank over but after that it's fine.
I am wondering if this may due to not beimg drivem frequently therefore, weak alternator, perhaps spark plugs, battery seems to be ok but maybe it's gotten weaker over time so that might be the issue too. Looking to get it checked out this week but wanted to get your opinions on it.

Many thanks

Battery would be the first thing I would look at, especially if it is a few years old.
Mine is like yours, garage queen driven once a week.

It could also be that the fuel is taking it's time to get to the engine, it requires a bit for startup. So, maybe press the on button before starting and let it sit for a while... then try and start to see if that help (primes the fuel pumps)..

Also, if you try and start it first time, only try for 3 seconds or so. Then stop trying, wait 5 seconds, and try again. Does it then work?

Thanks heaps for the information provided. Thinking of you mentioning the fuel point, this also makes alot of sense seeng that car sits dormant until driven. Once I have a second go it starts no problem and then seems stable throughout the day when started over. I will also try start option, allow to prime then start properly. Although I thought that pump would prime upon opening drivers door.

Great points and thank you for jumping in to help 👍

yeah, pump does prime, but might take a while longer if not used for a few days (not sure why, maybe evaporation in the pipes, goes back to tank?)..
I've always let mine sit with power on for a minute, then start.
